I've had some problems with this today as well (OSX, Chrome). I've had success by reloading the article ... it seems to be a refresh issue.

I can comment. Windows 7 Enterprise, SP1, freshest version of Chrome.

And THAT, is what has me so concerned. My guess is that all these problems with comments are tied to the impending switch to the new commenting system. Gawker is definitely working on something.

I can only reply to comments if I open the "reply button" link in a new tab (shortcut: click with the middle button/wheel)

Same setup here, same problem. Refreshing does nothing though.
